Bob Woodward talks President Trump on ’60 Minutes’
Veteran Washington Post journalist Bob Woodward will appear on CBS’ “60 Minutes” on Sunday at 7 pm ET/PT. This is his first interview about revelations in his new book on President Donald Trump’s tenure. The book, “Rage,” offers jarring details – including an admission by the president that he was “playing down” the threat posed by COVID-19. Viewers will hear the president in his own voice in audio excerpts and Woodward will tell Scott Pelley what he learned in the lengthy and frank interviews. “Rage” hits shelves this coming week.

Puerto Rico begins reopening as COVID-19 cases drop
Gov. Wanda Vasquez of Puerto Rico announced she would reopen beaches, casinos, gyms and movie theaters across the U.S. territory beginning Saturday as officials report a recent drop in COVID-19 cases and deaths that some experts worry could again spike. Face masks and social distancing, especially at the beach, remain mandatory. Bars and clubs will stay closed, and a 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew will continue. The island of 3.2 million people has reported more than 500 deaths, more than 17,000 confirmed cases and 19,000 probable ones. More than 420 remain hospitalized.

Western wildfires: Dozens remain missing as blazes rage on
Dozens of people are missing and tens of thousands remain evacuated this weekend as wildfires race through more than a dozen Western states. Nearly 28,000 firefighters and support personnel are assigned to wildfires across the West, and evacuation orders are in place for residents near 42 large fires, according to the National Interagency Fire Center. At least 26 people have died and hundreds of homes have been destroyed by more than 100 major fires that have consumed an area nearly the size of New Jersey. At least 20 deaths have been reported in California, five in Oregon and one in Washington state.

Target’s car seat recycling event returns
Target’s popular car seat trade-in event comes back Sunday, but in a contactless format due to COVID-19. From Sept. 13-26, Target stores will accept and recycle all types of car seats, including infant seats, convertible seats, car seat bases, harness or booster car seats, the retailer announced. In past years, shoppers brought the seats to guest services and were handed a paper coupon. This year, after dropping the seat in a designated box, they will get a digital coupon through the Target app by scanning a code. Target didn’t hold the event this spring amid the pandemic.
