Noticias Telemundo announced “La Batalla Final,” its historic, multiplatform Election Day coverage on Tuesday, November 8, starting at 7 PM ET/6 CT/4 PT on Telemundo and all of its digital properties, including Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Periscope, YouTube, Instagram and the NoticiasTelemundo.com webpage. Acclaimed Noticias Telemundo anchors José Díaz-Balart and María Celeste Arrarás will lead this unprecedented coverage effort, which will deploy dozens of reporters and analysts, as well as Hispanic celebrities across the country, and incorporate cutting-edge visual technology and augmented reality. “La Batalla Final” is the culmination of #DECISION2016, a unique Noticias Telemundo initiative aiming to inform and empower Hispanic voters around the country in close collaboration with NBC News, the country’s number one news organization.
“Noticias Telemundo has dedicated its efforts to covering this election, the most important one yet in the lifetime of most Hispanics in the United States. We are committed to the challenge of presenting the best and most complete coverage of this final battle,” said Luis Fernández, Executive Vice President of Noticias Telemundo. “The Hispanic community is following the electoral process more closely than ever before, and Noticias Telemundo wants to be on hand to stand alongside our community with the most complete analysis of the results. Our collaboration with NBC News is just one more guarantee of our ability to offer the most accurate and trustworthy information.”
Telemundo will be the only Spanish-language network offering a vote count in real time and data from official exit polls, meaning it will have access to projected results before any other Hispanic television news organization. The exit poll results will be broadcast as part of the network’s television coverage as well as online on NoticiasTelemundo.com and the Noticias Telemundo mobile app.
Noticias Telemundo will also participate in Democracy Plaza in New York City, where anchors Luis Carlos Vélez and Felicidad Aveleyra will report from a special studio. Democracy Plaza is an innovative concept created by NBC News that integrates cutting-edge visual technology to turn New York’s Rockefeller Center into a gigantic studio that uses augmented reality to superimpose realistic graphic elements on the screen, including bar graphs tallying the Electoral College count and a map showing results by state on the center’s buildings and iconic ice-skating rink.
More than 15 correspondents strategically located at the Clinton and Trump campaign headquarters, in key cities such as Los Angeles, New York and Washington, D.C., and in swing states with significant Hispanic populations, including Florida, Nevada and Arizona, will contribute to the “Batalla Final” coverage. Well-known political experts and activists such as Ana Navarro, Freddy Balsera, Alfonso Aguilar, Victoria de Franchesco, Daniel Garza, Clarisa Martínez, Erika Andiola, Driena Sixto and Mauro Gregorio will analyze the unfolding vote tally, the potential result, and its consequences for the Hispanic community. Latino celebrities such as Mario Kreutzberger (Don Francisco), Ana María Polo and Ximena Duque will contribute their points of view throughout the day, and in Los Angeles,Telemundo, Loyola Marymount University and NALEO will present a watch party in La Plaza de Las Artes, featuring Hispanic radio personality Ricardo “El Mandril” Sánchez.
#DECISION2016 is a unique effort designed to inform and empower Hispanic voters around the country. In close collaboration with NBC News, the country’s number one news organization, Noticias Telemundo will have aired more than 275 hours of political coverage at the end of this electoral cycle, a figure unprecedented in the network’s history. Noticiero Telemundo’s Emmy Award-winning anchors, María Celeste Arrarás and José Díaz-Balart, have been at the forefront of the #DECISION2016 coverage, aided by a team of more than 10 correspondents charged with documenting the electoral process across the country.
