A fast-moving wildfire in Northern California has scorched over 50,000 acres as of Sunday due to extreme heat and erratic winds, officials said.

The National Weather Service issued so-called red flag warnings Sunday as the McKinney Fire continued to rage near the California-Oregon border. Triple-digit heat and extreme low humidity, along with strong winds, has created an extreme wildfire threat, officials said, prompting the warnings.
