“You have all these people, ‘I was first. No, I was first,” Trump said — most likely referencing Buttigieg and Sanders, who have both claimed victory.

“And it turned out to be Pete Buttigieg, whoever the hell that is,” Trump said. “Mayor Pete. Explain that one to me.”

The Iowa Democratic Party and the Democratic National Committee are still struggling to come up with a plan to verify the results of the caucuses, and The Associated Press has so far declined to declare a winner.

On Friday, the state party chair called for an independent investigation into exactly what went wrong with the state’s caucuses, which were thrown into disarray after the app used to report results experienced technical difficulties.

“With reports from 100% of the precincts in, we are taking steps to ensure the accuracy of the results,” Troy Price, the state party chair, tweeted. “An independent investigation of what happened is necessary once we finalize the results.”

Trump drew laughter and applause from the crowd in North Carolina as he piled onto Democrats for spending “hundreds of millions of dollars” on campaigning, but not checking “to see whether or not an app worked.”

“It didn’t,” Trump added. “It fried all the votes. They’re all fried.”

The crowd erupted into a chant of “four more years,” chant, and Trump added: “If you want to drive them crazy, go 12 more years, 16 more years.”
